With the aim to protect and preserve the nature of Redang Island, Berjaya Hotels & Resorts recently organized its annually held REDANG ISLAND CLEAN-UP DAY (RICD) scheduled from 24 to 26 September 2010. Endorsed by Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Project AWARE, the three-day event vows to strengthen conservation of underwater life and educate people on the importance of coral reefs to the ecosystems; hence maintaining a harmonious balance between nature and human activities. Apart from exercising its role as a socially responsible corporate citizen, the resort along with 120 divers and non-divers experienced an extraordinary journey of creating a kinship with marine biological, joining hands, showing their support and contributing to this meaningful event.

The event featured various educational-fun-filled activities, which include clean-up dive, beach cleaning, conservation seminar by PADI, photography workshop by Scuba Symphony and a Gala Dinner by the beach. There was also a photography competition (two categories namely Underwater Photography and Land Photography) for divers and non-divers to express their skills in photography, capturing the glorious and amazing photos of the underwater and land life. The best photograph walked away with prizes from some renowned sponsors including holiday packages from Berjaya Hotels & Resorts.

This year Berjaya Hotels & Resorts also donated RM5, 000 to PADI Project AWARE Foundation to help fund the underwater conservation projects.
