Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur Provides Ramadan Cheer For Underprivileged Children

KUALA LUMPUR, JUNE 2016 - In the spirit of Ramadan, the management and associates of Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur recently held a special “buka puasa” event for 42 children from Rumah Kasih Harmoni and the Spastic Children Association of Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan (SCASFT).

The event was Berjaya Times Square Hotel’s sixth Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity of the year and was it held in the Manhattan ballroom. It is part of the hotel’s monthly community-based CSR initiative, which is hosted in rotation by various departments within the hotel.

The children arrived at the hotel at 4.30pm and were greeted in the lobby by the Sales & Marketing team who planned the event. The muslim children were brought to the prayer room to perform their daily prayers while the non-muslim children were ushered into the hotel’s function rooms which had been turned into a game room.

The event started with a small ice-breaking session where the children took turns introducing themselves to the hotel associates. Shortly after, the children were divided up into smaller groups and took turns playing traditional games such as Belon Celah KangKang, Datuk Harimau and Congkak. A special arts and craft booth was also set up so that the children can make their own Hari Raya greeting cards. At 7.00pm, the children adjourned to the Manhattan ballroom where a sumptuous buffet spread awaits them. The night started out with a special song and dance performance by the children of Rumah Kasih Harmoni to commemorate the heart-warming event.

After Iftar, Mr Mondi Mecja, General Manager of Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur presented the children with Raya goodies and Duit Raya. The night ended after the cake-cutting ceremony which was to celebrate the birthdays of the children born in the month of June.

”We hope that the children from Rumah Kasih Harmoni and SCASFT had fun tonight and that we have managed to make this buka puasa session a special one for them. We look forward to having more events such as these where we get to give back to the community” said Mondi Mecja, General Manager of Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
