IT all started seven months ago in Singapore when Kimberly Yap Huay Sean accompanied her (then) fiancé, Kelvin Teo Seh Kiat to a library. It was a chance Internet encounter with a Malaysian newspaper article which featured Love Me Do! – The region’s first online wedding contest sponsored mainly by Berjaya Hotels & Resorts.
Kimberly was instantly hooked to the grand prize: An all-expenses-paid and everything-planned designer beach wedding worth RM100,000 at Berjaya Langkawi Beach & Spa Resort.
After confirming their participation at www.lovemedo.com.my, Kelvin and Kimberly went on a six-month journey with this unique wedding contest packed with four phases of public voting, blogging, video streaming and photography.
The final public vote closed on March 6, with Kelvin & Kimberly winning by 122,356 votes.
With the remainder six weeks to prepare for their dream beach wedding on April 23, Kelvin and Kimberly spared no time to meet various Love Me Do! partners and sponsors for their wedding planning.
An idea conceptualised, initiated and led by Berjaya Hotels & Resorts’ corporate director, marketing and communications Thang Han-Ni, the Love Me ‘Do! integrated marketing communications campaign was executed only through in-house resources together with her team of five.
Thang said: “The ‘Love Me Do’ campaign was a definite success not through our own hands but from the fans and supporters on Facebook, the press, the sponsors & partners and the citizens of the bloggersphere.
“It amazes me to this day the power of the Internet that brought forth this campaign and it touches me more realising that it was also the Internet that kept both Kelvin and Kimberly together through these years.”
