Berjaya Makati Hotel Is Now Officially Halal-Certified

Following the Complete Enumeration of Dedicated Kitchen Facilities, Hotel Breaks Ground as First Deluxe Hotel in the Philippines to Welcome Muslim Guests

MAKATI, MARCH 2016 – The certificate of halal quality was awarded to Berjaya Makati Hotel on 11 March 2016 following the hotel’s successful and complete enumeration of facilities to be certified. Department of Tourism Assistant Secretary (right) Mr. Art Boncato personally meets and conduct photo opt to our General Manager (left) Mr. Norazman Chung to receive the halal certification and officially congratulate Berjaya Makati Hotel as first deluxe hotel in the Philippines to be announced as halal certified.

This accomplishment is rewarding to Berjaya Makati Hotel as the hotel is tapping into the Middle East and Malaysian tourist markets. Based on the tourist arrival report from the Department of Tourism, the statistics have mentioned that these market are one topping the 2015 tourist arrival charts. Assistant Secretary Boncato added that he has learned that majority requirement of these people are for halal friendly hotel establishments.

“As Makati is growing to become a key business and leisure destination, and as we continue to see the rise in the demand for halal food, being halal-certified, our hotel will be able to serve these target consumers and tourists while adequately and sufficiently meeting their demand,” added Norazman Chung, General Manager of Berjaya Makati Hotel.

The enumeration project and certification process was led by Assistant Secretary Boncato with the help of the Halal Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines (HCCIP) which smoothly brought this endeavour by the hotel off to a success.

Berjaya Makati Hotel is looking to conduct a halal launch event for the hotel on April 20, 2016 with selected and valued 70 guests from top corporations, local and online travel partners, government agencies and media.
