KUALA LUMPUR, JANUARY 2018 – Berjaya Times Square Hotel Kuala Lumpur strongly believes in giving back to the society. It is one of our duty to care and give back through our company core values which is held on monthly basis to create awareness to the public. As hotel business challenges continue to increase, the intrinsic value of our service and guest satisfaction will continue to expand through our Corporate Social Value programme.

One of Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur’s Corporate Social Responsibility program (CSR) which is happened in month of January was championed by the hotel’s Engineering department. The volunteers, made up of 31 associates from different departments within the hotel arrived at Rumah Perlindungan Nur Hati , Ampang around 9 am and were greeted by the caretaker of the residence.

After a quick briefing by the management of the welfare home, the hotel associates were divided into a few groups; focusing on cleaning, changing new fans, painting the interior walls as well as maintenance throughout the house. The home which consist of 32 children and 14 teenagers, were in dire need of support and donations from the public to run the facility and welfare of the home. The children were either victims of abuse cases or were being abandoned by their families at such a young age; there were even 5 days old new born babies who were abandoned and some of them suffers from health complications.

In the afternoon, the associates took a break and were briefed by En Zack Zahid, the caretaker of the Rumah Perlindungan Nur Hati on the challenges and listened to heart breaking stories from each of the children. We ended our CSR with lunch specially brought from the hotel as well as birthday celebration for the children.

“We hope that our little contribution to the shelter home, will help create awareness among the public on child abuse as well as abandonment of young children; Martin Luther King Jr. once said – ‘Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others? said Bhavani Navaratnam, Executive Assistant Manager of Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur
